Janapada Division of IGNCA focuses on Hariyali Teej as the theme for its annual day function

New Delhi/IBNS: The Janapada Division of Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA) New Delhi, observed their annual day through the celebration of Hariyali Teej.

Hariyali Teej is a traditional festival held during the monsoon (in the month of Shravana) to commemorate the marriage of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati.

It is a popular festival celebrated in Rajasthan, Punjab and Haryana, and other parts of India, where the rituals are almost same with some local variations.

Various programmes were held to celebrate the occasion.

Apart from  cultural performances by artists from Haryana and Telangana, a special lecture, a book release, a photography exhibition and a festive fair were also held.

The chief guest of the event was Prof. K. K. Basa, Director General, Archaeological Survey of India and Chairman, National Monuments Authority (NMA), Union Ministry of Culture.

Malvika Joshi, educationist, cultural expert, writer and storyteller was the guest of honour.

The special lecture was delivered by Prof. P.C. Joshi, former Vice-Chancellor of University of Delhi.

A research-oriented book 'Garhwal Ka Beda Samaj’ was also released.

The Janapada Sampada Division highlighted its year-long activities through a photography exhibition held at the Darshanam-I Art Gallery of IGNCA; Professor Basa inaugurated the exhibition.

The marketplace ‘Teej Haat Bazaar’ was arranged at Darshanam-II gallery for visitors and the staff of IGNCA.

Prof. K.  Anil Kumar presented the welcome address, while Research Officer Dr. S. Arun Kumar Reddy presented the annual report of JS Division.

Prof. Ramakar Pant, HoD of Adi Drishya Division of IGNCA also attended the event.

The event was anchored by Kanupriya, Project Assistant while the vote of thanks was given by Project Assistant Sangya Dubey.
