Twenty-one years after Lara Dutta won the crown, India's Harnaaz Sandhu brought it back by winning the Miss Universe title on Sunday.

The 70th Miss Universe event was held in Eilat city of Israel.

The Punjabi model won the showpiece event by beating Paraguay's Nadia Ferreira and South Africa's Lalela Mswane.

Andrea Meza, former Miss Universe 2020 from Mexico, presented the title to her.

Earlier, Sushmita Sen (1994) and Lara Dutta (2000) had won the pageant.
