Assam/IBNS: The festival known as "Gosai Phurua," which has been celebrated for 339 years, was recently held in Guptakashi, located in Biswanath Chariali.

Gosain Bihu, which is the third day of Rongali Bihu, holds great importance in Guptkashi Biswanath Ghat, located about 10 km south of Biswanath Chariali.

This event takes place in the Biswanath sub-division and is widely celebrated in the area.

As per the tradition dating back to the Ahom dynasty, the deity Gosai is carried in a procession for around 5 kilometres from the Shiva temple at Guptakashi Biswanath Ghat to Panibhoral village, located in the north, as part of the festival celebration, reported The Assam Tribune.

During the evening, the Gosai is transported to the Biswanath Temple using a Kekora dola along with religious rituals, as per the long-standing tradition.

This event attracts a significant number of devotees from various regions, who visit Biswanath Ghat from the morning to participate in the festival and offer Puja. The festival is a popular gathering and draws a large crowd every year.
