Poet Sonnet Mondal’s new book of poems titled An Afternoon in My Mind has recently been launched.

The poet focuses primarily on nostalgia, memories, and walks through various social issues in this book.

The slim hardcover book, published by Copper Coin Publishing New Delhi, includes 75 of the poet’s poems that touch upon topics of war, loss, loneliness, village life, childhood, nostalgia, lost time, and hope.

While speaking to India Blooms, Mondal says, "I began writing this book in January 2020, just two months before the fatal pandemic struck our region. People used a variety of activities to keep themselves intact while the world was grappling with the pandemic.

"I turned to my memories, my life's past, and began writing poems about them. Such was my experience with the poems in this collection."
