Kolkata Kolkata Centre for Creativity hosts ‘The Legacy Of Loss: Perspectives On The Partition Of Bengal’
Kolkata: Kolkata Centre for Creativity (KCC), the leading multi-disciplinary art space today inaugurated ‘The Legacy Of Loss: Perspectives On The Partition Of Bengal’, an art exhibition to commemorate the 'Partition Remembrance Day'.
Gianluca Rubagotti, Consul General, Italian Republic, graced the inauguration ceremony as the Chief Guest along with Rituparna Roy, Managing Trustee, Kolkata Partition Museum Trust, Richa Agarwal, Chairperson, Kolkata Centre for Creativity and Ms Reena Dewan, Director, Kolkata Centre for Creativity.
The inaugural session was also followed by an interactive session between Sugata Bose, Indian Historian & Politician, Goutam Ghose, Indian Film Director and Shuvaprasanna Bhattacharya, Eminent Artist.
The Legacy of Loss: Perspectives on the Partition of Bengal, is a collaborative exhibition organized by Kolkata Partition Museum Trust and Kolkata Centre for Creativity, supported by Tata Steel and Emami Foundation.
The exhibition will showcase paintings, prints, photographs, installations, and more, which features artists like Amritah Sen, Debasish Mukherjee, Dilip Mitra, Paula Sengupta, and Vinayak Bhattacharya.
The exhibition would provide an intimate look at the disruption of harmony and the thwarted desires for togetherness that have grown on the two sides of the political border, separating human bonds and connections.
The exhibition will also conduct online talk sessions on Aug 22 August and 29 respectively.
On Aug 22, the talk will focus on ‘Revisiting the Legacy of Loss (Session I)’ where the panelists will be Vinayak Bhattacharya, Dilip Mitra, Amritah Sen and Supriyo Sen, whereas on Aug 29 the talk will highlight ‘Revisiting the Legacy of Loss (Session II)’ where panelists Dr. Paula Sengupta (Professor and HOD, Faculty of Printmaking, Rabindra Bharati University and Artist), Debashish Mukherjee (Artist) & Goutam Ghose (Indian Film Director) will have their opinions shared on the topic.
