Santoor maestro Tarun Bhattacharya brings 500 Strings of Santoor to Kolkata

Kolkata, Feb 8 (IBNS) Santoor maestro Tarun Bhattacharya is all set to bring on stage 500 Strings of Santoor.

The concert to be staged in February 2016 in Kolkata shall another path breaking initiative by Tarun Bhattacharya , who created a huge sensation when he invented the "Mankas" and started gliding on lower octaves 2 decades back. 

The  Santoor is also known as Shata Tantri Veena ( 100 strings)

An unique and innovative concept to be staged for the first time in the world, where 5 Santoor exponents, including Bhattacharya, shall come together to play the 5 Shata Tantri Veena or Santoor in a unique musical ensemble.

Supported by percussionist these 5 musicians, each shall weave a different variation of the instrument, producing an unique mix of classical and world music that will transcend the age barrier and appeal to both the classes and masses alike.

The tracks will include Classical, Bhatiali, Pahari, Western and many other variations

500 Strings and Santoor concert shall be dedicated to cause of cornea donation pledge campaign that  Bhattacharya endorses.
