Mumbai /Kolkata, Jan 14 (IBNS): Building on its legacy as India’s premier fashion stage for upcoming design talent, Lakmé Fashion Week in association with Diamond Producers Association has announced a platform to discover and nurture emerging Diamond jewellery design talent.

‘The Real Cut’ will bring together emerging Diamond jewellery designers from iconic jewellery brands to define the trends of the future while drawing on their inspiration from billion-year-old Diamonds.

The Real Cut will give these Diamond jewellery designers an opportunity to showcase their work at Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2019 with designer labels Rara Avis by Sonal Verma, Verandah by Anjali Patel Mehta, and Saaksha & Kinni by Saaksha Bhat and Kinnari Kamat.

This collaboration between fashion and Diamond jewellery designers will showcase how Diamonds are a perfect pairing for any and every look. A unique partnership, which features Diamonds with only prêt wear collections, this initiative will be a first in the country’s fashion scene.

The programme is open to Diamond jewellery designers associated with leading jewellery brands from across the country who have been in the business or practicing their craft for three to eight years. The designers must demonstrate a combination of innovative design & techniques to celebrate Diamonds as well as eloquently elaborate on the unique creative ideas and methods employed to conceptualize their original Diamond jewellery collection.  Winners will be chosen by an eminent panel of jury members who will evaluate them on parameters ranging from quality, innovation, marketability, originality and ability to take their business to the next level.

Richa Singh, Managing Director – India, Diamond Producers Association (DPA), said: “Diamonds have a very deep connection to the history, culture and fashion of India. We are excited to collaborate with Lakmé Fashion Week to offer a platform that will identify and nurture Diamond jewellery design talent and be beyond a basic showcase. Our path-breaking association, which pairs and enhances prêt fashion wear with everyday Diamond jewellery, is the perfect opportunity for young and emerging Diamond jewellery designers to display their talent and celebrate this billion-year-old miracle of nature. I’m looking forward to seeing the exciting looks that emerge on the runway, with Diamonds enhancing every collection.”

Jaspreet Chandok, Vice President and Fashion Head- IMG Reliance, said: “We are thrilled to launch The Real Cut in association with the Diamond Producers Association. Our aim is to constantly evolve while making the right associations that add value and set a new benchmark. With this association, we are taking a step towards creating a new platform for Diamond jewellery designers in the Indian fashion industry.”
