Industry captains discuss the future of the workplace at an IBSA organised meet in Kolkata

Kolkata/IBNS: Will globalization and technological advancements bring a sea change in the workplace? What will the worker, workplace and work itself look like in the future?

These and other issues took centre stage at a panel discussion recently organised by the Indo British Scholars' Association (IBSA) in association with The Bengal Club and University of Birmingham.

The discussion was pegged on a new book - ‘Work 3.0’ – authored by Avik Chanda, columnist and business advisor and Siddhartha Bandyopadhyay, Professor of Economics, University of Birmingham, United Kingdom.

Moderated by Dr. Sandip Chatterjee (neurosurgeon), the panel was also attended by Joydeep Datta Gupta (Partner, Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu India LLP) and Barsha Sanyal (Partner and General Manager, PwC SDC).

Subrata Paul, President, IBSA, highlighted the importance of the future of the workplace in the context of globalization and technological advancement, in his welcome address.

Guest of honour, Dr. Debanjan Chakraborty, Director, British Council, East & North East, spoke about challenges in the evolving workplace. 

Dipankar Chakraborti, Regional Director - South Asia & Middle East, University of Birmingham gave the vote of thanks.

Siddhartha Bandyopadhyay is Professor of Economics at the University of Birmingham, where he leads the multi-disciplinary Centre for Crime, Justice and Policing, as well as the 21st Century Transnational Crime theme at the Institute for Global Innovation. A multi-disciplinary scholar, he has published in internationally leading journals in Economics, Politics, Law and Medicine.
