Kolkata/IBNS: The School of Applied Science & Technology, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (MAKAUT), has organised APPSCICON22 – an interdisciplinary conference “of the students, for the students, and by the students”.

The aim of this conference is to foster project/ research-based learning among UG and PG students as well as early-stage Ph.D. scholars by providing them with a professional platform for the presentation and exchange of ideas through lively interactions with peers and mentors.

To spark off interdisciplinary ideation and collaborative initiative, MAKAUT has invited contributions from the entire spectrum of applied science & technology.

APPSCICON22 has been inaugurated on May 27 by Vice-Chancellor of MAKAUT and the Chief Patron of the Conference Prof. (Dr.) Saikat Maitra at the main campus of MAKAUT in Haringhata in Nadia district, West Bengal.

At the inaugural session, the General Chair of the Conference Dr. Partha Pratim Lahiri, Respected Registrar of MAKAUT pointed out, "Multidisciplinary activity is a signature feature of a modern university following the UGC mandate. I am glad to see that AppSciCon22 – the national conference organized by the students under the guidance of the faculty members of the School of Applied Science & Technology – has internalized this multidisciplinary spirit and included in its scope the full range of subject areas of applied science."

Conference Chair Prof Sukhendu Samajdar, Ph.D. and Director, School of Applied Science & Technology, MAKAUT, WB said, "Conferences are mostly arranged for faculty members and scholars. Very few are exclusively dedicated and designed for students. This is what we have attempted to do. Most of the participants are PG and UG students, then scholars and faculty members."
