Chandigarh/IBNS: Schools in Punjab will resume all classes from Monday, August 2, the government has said, after the schools were closed temporarily in mid-March amid a surge in Covid cases for offline classes.

While allowing the offline classes, the Punjab government has said the schools must adhere to Covid protocols and and must maintain Covid appropriate behavior inside the school premises.

On July 26, Punjab government allowed schools to resume classes in offline mode for classes 10 to 12 but the attendance in schools was purely at the consent of the parents and the option for online classes continued.

Only fully vaccinated teachers and staff were to return to schools and students were supposed to furnish written consent from their parents to attend school.

Till Saturday, Punjab reported 544 active Covid cases while 5,82,217 patients have recovered and 16,292 patients have died due to the disease.
