Top 7 Non-IIMs With Best Placement Records in Marketing & Sales

1) S.P. Jain Institute of Management and Research (SPJIMR), Mumbai

SPJIMR’s two-year, full time, MBA equivalent Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) is offered with a specialization in Marketing. It is AICTE approved and accredited by the Association of MBAs (AMBA), UK and NBA.

Their programs, have also been, ranked among the top 10 in India. And, they also offer other specializations in Finance, Operations, and Information Management, in the PGDM program. This program costs about INR 10 Lakhs in total.

Their return on investment is quite good, as this year’s highest salary package offered was Rs. 39.5 lakhs p.a. and their average salary rose from Rs. 19.3 Lakhs p.a. in the previous year to Rs. 20.9 lakhs p.a. About 90 % of students were placed with an offer of Rs. 15 Lakhs or more, in hand.

More than 100 companies had come for the recruitment, and 51 were new companies. They included Goldman Sachs, Reckitt Benckiser, General Mills, Johnson & Johnson, GEP, Samara Capital, DBS Bank, ICICI Prudential, Directi, HCL Infosystems, LinkedIn, TAS, Deloitte, Accenture Strategy, Mahindra GMC, HUL, P&G, Microsoft, PwC-PRTM, Axis Bank etc. to name a few.

2) School of Management, KIIT University, Bhubaneswar

The School of Management, KIIT University was established in the year 1993. This year, it was awarded 22nd rank India as per the NIRF 2017, standing up for an excellence in management education. Speaking about their MBA program, it comes with specialization in Marketing Management. This course looks into the integration of management and business, and building a strong foundation in key functional areas of business. This course costs about Rs 6 Lakhs in total.

Now, on course completion, an average package of Rs. 5 Lakhs p.a. is offered. Their highest salary offered so far, is Rs. 15 Lakhs p.a. Over the past few years, this program has produced a 100% placement record.

This year, alone some 94 companies visited the campus for placements. Sobha LLC, KhimjiRamdas LLC, Trafigura, HDFC Life, DELL, Schneider Electric, Afcons infrastructure Ltd., ITC hotels, Ema Partners, Verity Knowledge Solutions, ISUZU etc.

3) Symbiosis Institute of Business Management, Pune

Another prestigious name to be added to this list is the Symbiosis Institute of Business Management. This year, it was ranked 8th among Top Pvt. B-School, and 5th among Best B-school among the private players. In 2016, it was ranked 3rd among Best private B-school in India. And these are just a few mentions of the large list of ranks and awards this Institute has won, over the years.

No wonder their MBA program with marketing specialization is quite in demand.It basically focuses on practical application of marketing concepts and principles in through case studies, seminars, and research projects.

On their course completion, an average salary of Rs. 15 Lakhs p.a. is offered. It was Rs. 14.23 Lakhs p.a. in 2015-16. And their highest salary package was Rs. 24 Lakhs p.a., which reduced from Rs. 27.88 Lakhs p.a., from the previous placement season. They also had an international placement offer of Rs. 30 Lakhs p.a. last year.

Some of their most famous recruiters, included Aditya Birla Group, Asian Paints Ltd, Aviva India, Becton Dickinson India Pvt. Ltd., Capgemini India Pvt. Ltd., Cummins India Ltd., D.E.Shaw India, Dabur India Ltd., Genpact Limited, JP Morgan Services India Pvt. Ltd., ICICI Bank Ltd., Titan Company Ltd., Vodafone India Ltd., Wipro Ltd., etc.

In 2016-17, about 70 recruiters visited the campus and offered 68 pre-placement offers out of 200 total job offers. The number of offers above 12 Lakhs p.a. was 132 and those above Rs. 10 Lakhs p.a. was 178.

 

4) Faculty of Management Studies, University of Delhi

The Faculty of Management Studies, Delhi University was established in 1954. In 2012, it was awarded 5th rank by Outlook MDRA.

The placement process for MBA marketing at FMS is a unique one. It’s divided into two parts, the Lateral and final placement process. They also have a scheduling algorithm in place, that helps match the students and recruiters’ preferences. And that's not all! For all those who dare to dream and test their entrepreneurial skills, FMS kind off grants a placement holiday to such students and allows them to participate in placements later on, if they want to still avail opportunities, for up to two years.

Last year, some 200 companies visited the campus. On MBA marketing course completion in 2016, an average salary was Rs.20.5 lakhs p.a. was offered. This was an increase from Rs. 17 Lakhs p.a. from the preceding years. They also recorded nearly 100% placements. Also, the highest salary offered in 2016 was Rs.66 lakhs p.a.

Top 50% of the offers accepted by the FMS students recorded a rise of 25% with an average salary package of Rs.25.5 lakhs in 2016 rising from Rs.20.46 lakhs last year.

Out of a total 147 participating recruiters, 80 recruiters made 220 offers to the students. The sales and marketing job offers were majorly offered in the automobile, retail, media, telecom and industrial sector. ITC, PepsiCo, Nestle, Bennett Coleman &Co.Ltd., Godrej, SBI, IBM, JSW, Philips, Tata Steel, Yes Bank, Vodafone, Wipro, Sony Music, Dr. Reddy’s, Asian Paints, Sharekhan, Bajaj, Indian Oil Corps Ltd. etc. were some of their recent recruiters.

5)BML Munjal University (BMU), Gurgaon

The MBA marketing course at BML Munjal University is a multi-disciplinary, application-based curriculum, mentored by Imperial College London, thus promising a global exposure. They focus on nurturing progressive, forward-thinking leaders.

This university, founded by the Hero Group, is currently ranked 8th in the QS World University, (2016-17).

With regard to placement, their first batch of MBA actually recorded 100% placements and an average package of Rs. 6.1 Lakhs p.a. was offered. Siemens, YES Bank, Mother Dairy, Aditya Birla Group, Coca-Cola etc. were of their popular recruiters on campus.

6) Amity Business School, Noida

This private business school was established in 1999 and is affiliated to the Amity University. In 2016, it was ranked among top 10 in India by Times B-School survey.

Their MBA marketing and sales course and other management programs are IACBE and ACBSP accredited. Now its admissions are based on Group discussions, GMAT/CAT/ XAT scores, their cut off is 85 percentile.

On an MBA marketing course completion, most students are placed with the average package of Rs. 6-7 Lakhs p.a. and their highest package offered was Rs. 14 Lakhs.

Almost 90% students are placed in the recent placements.

Future Group, ICICI, Dell, HCL, SBI, Ford India, TCS, Accenture, TCS etc are some of their popular recruiters.

7) Department of Management Studies, Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi

This Institute was established in the year 1997. This year, they secured 5th rank at an All India ranking level.

Now their MBA marketing course created quite a stir during the 2015-17 placements, maintaining 100% placement record. An average package of Rs. 16.21 Lakhs p.a. was offered. Their highest package stood at 27.07 Lakhs p.a. as against 21 Lakhs from their previous year. And lowest salary package was Rs. 8 Lakhs p.a.

Sales and Marketing were actually one of the most popular roles in which companies offered job offers (31%). The popular recruiters who visited their campus were, Reckitt Benckiser, Google, PernordRicard, Louis Dreyfus, GSK, Crisil, Bosch, Mazars, Total Oil and Gas, Brillio, Concentrix, Essel Group, Futures First, GE, Amazon, Dell, National Instruments, IBM, HP, Bank of America, Deloitte India, Virtusa, Wipro, Axis Bank, Indiamart, Lava etc .
