Kolkata, Mar 29 (IBNS): The West Bengal State Akademi of Dance Drama Music and Visual Arts, Rabindra Bharati University, in association with the Sangeet Natak Akademi North-East Centre, Guwahati and theJawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy (JNMDA), Imphal, presented Porvottar Dhara – a festival focussing on the performing arts of north-eastern India – at the Jorasanko Thakurbari, Kolkata from Mar 25 to 28.

On Mar 25, there were folk dances and music from Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura; on Mar 26, ‘Shruti Dhwani’, an instrumental ensemble from Assam, Pung Cholamdances from Manipur presented by the JNMDA, Imphal, ‘Confluence of Sattriya and Kathak dances’ – a presentation by Bipul Das, Ramkrishna Talukdar and their group, Dhol Cholam dances from Manipur presented by the JNMDA, Imphal, and a music and dance presentation by the Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata; on Mar 27, a Sattriya dance presentation by Nritya Bhumi, Guwahati, ‘Kabui Kei-Oiba’, a dance drama presented by the JNMDA, Imphal; and on Mar 28, a Hindustani vocal recital presented by Padma Mouliswar Aditya of Agartala, and ‘Chandalika’, a dance drama presented by the Sattriya Kendra, Guwahati.
