New Delhi, Oct 12 (ANI): The East Delhi Municipal Corporation (EDMC) sanitation workers held protest outside Mayor's house on Thursday morning after they went on an indefinite strike on Wednesday. The workers are protesting over various issues, including non-payment of dues. Over 9,000 sanitation workers under the civic body are part of the protest. They carried out a protest march while holding the effigy of the mayor and raising slogans against him. Considering that the EDMC sanitation workers called for the strike ahead of Diwali, the capital may have to breathe stench-filled air. The impact of the strike is being felt already, as garbage was not picked from several areas, including Krishna Nagar, New Ashok Nagar and Laxmi Nagar. This is the third time in this year that EDMC workers have sat on indefinite strike.
