Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation celebrates 125 years of Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav

Mumbai, Aug 23 (IBNS):Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) on the occasion of 125 years of Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav is organizing a grand celebration “MahaGaneshotsav” starting from Aug 26 to Sept 5 to promote the spirit of the festival.

Maharashtra’s vibrant festivals have always brought together people from diverse cultures and communities.Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak started Ganesh Chaturthi in the year 1894to unite and bring people together for the mutual cause of freedom struggle. Presently, it has now emerged as one of the major festivals in the India.

The Ganeshotsavis one of the biggestfestivals in Maharashtra which is celebrated with a lot of enthusiasm.

Devotees across the state come together to welcome the elephant-headed god.

The long memorable journey of 125 yearsof SarvajanikGaneshotsavwill be exhibited through audio visual medium and the performers from Kokan and entire Maharashtra will join in a cultural programme.

The tourist from all over the country and overseas can experience the GaneshDarshan tours to the well-known pandalssuch asLalbaug-cha-Raja, Ganesh Gully,GSB Mandal, GSB MandalGSB MandalFort-cha-Raja,FanaswadiGanesha, JitekarwadiGanesha and BramhansabhaGanesha. Fanaswadi Ganesha, Jitekarwadi Ganesha and Bramhansabha Ganesha BMC is also taking initiative for foreign tourists that will be a part of Grand Ganesh immersion ceremony atGirgaum beach.

In Pune, the tour will commence from Shaniwar Wada which compriseof Kasbapeth Ganesh pandal, TambadiJogeshwari, GurujiTalim, Dagdusheth and TulshibaugGaneshas. The Konkan tour will include Ganesh Pandal of Dive Agar and Harihareshwar. In Pune, the tour will begin from Shaniwar Wada at 12.30pm and include Kasbapeth, Tambadi Jogeshwari, Guruji Talim, Dagdusheth and Tulshibaug Ganeshas. In the Konkan tour that includes a one-night stay, the pickup will be from Pritam Hotel at 7am. The first day will be spent in Dive Agar and the second in Harihareshwar.

Commenting on the occasion JaykumarRawal -Minister of Tourism, Government of Maharashtrasaid, “It is anhonour to organise this cultural festival and offer a podium to display the best of the state of Maharashtra. MTDC will collaborate with the BMC to develop separate pandalfor foreign travellers to perceive the Ganesh procession at GirgaonChowpatty. This enclosure will be able to lodge 200 tourists at batch in anhour. This will also exhibit how Ganesh Festivalhas transformed over the decades and this initiative will certainly draw attention of domestic and foreign tourists. Visitors will get a chance to participate in ceremonies, traditional programmes and societal initiatives. All tours will be organized between August 27 to September 3, online bookings can be done on MTDC website”.
