Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington commits suicide

Los Angeles, Jul 21 (IBNS): Shocking his fans and fraternity alike, Linkin Park crooner Chester Bennington, 41, committed suicide, LA Country coroner said.

His body was recovered from a private home on Thursday.

Bennington was the face of US band Linkin Park, which was formed in 1996.

Having sold 70 million albums, they were the recipient of two Grammy Awards.

Following his death, Bennington's band member Mike Shinoda tweeted he was 'heartbroken' upon receiving the news.

"Shocked and heartbroken, but it's true. An official statement will come out as soon as we have one," Shinoda's tweet read.

Tributes also flowed in from fans across the globe as #RIPChesterBennigton trended on Twitter.

Apart from singing, Bennington also acted in a couple of movies.

He is survived by his wife and six children from two marriages.
