Guwahati, Oct 21 (IBNS): After unearthing the multi-crore scam in the office of the Directorate of Information and Public Relations (DIPR), the Chief Minister’s vigilance cell on Saturday registered a case into the same.

A top official of the CM's vigilance said that, the investigating agency registered a case into the multi crore rupees scam and accused several persons including its director Ranjit Gogoi and proprietor of advertising agency Rajiv Bora and Anjana Bora.

The CM's vigilance cell has filed an FIR into the scam before the special court in Guwahati.

Earlier, the sleuths of CM's vigilance had raided the office of the DIPR several times and seized several vital documents.

On April 6 last, five officials of CM's vigilance had raided the office in connection with Rs 40 crore scam under DIPR during the previous Congress led state government tenure.

The CM's vigilance sleuths led by SP K Choudhury had grilled director Ranjit Gogoi at his office for several hours.

“The previous Congress government had allocated Rs 40 crore in budget for Vision Assam Mission Assam project to make publicity the government schemes. Following the government directives, the Directorate of Information and Public Relations had called tender for publicity the government schemes, works by advertising in print and electronic media and showing hoardings in various locations. Out of 15 agencies, which participating in the tender process, only four agencies were awarded the works,” the top official said.

“Among the four agencies, alone Pradip Advertising was awarded Rs 10 crore work order. But the initial probe cleared that 90% fund was siphoned,” the official said.

During the investigation it revealed that, the Vision Assam Mission Assam project was implemented only in papers and it was done just before the last assembly poll in the state.

The vigilance official further said that, director Ranjit Gogoi also allegedly siphoned several crore of rupees in the name of a firm Nandita Creations, which firm was created on his wife’s name.
