All aspects of privacy cannot be put under fundamental rights: Centre to SC
"There is a fundamental right to privacy, but it is a wholly qualified right since the right to privacy consists of various aspects and is a sub-species of the right to liberty, every aspect of it will not qualify as a fundamental right," Attorney General KK Venugopal was quoted as saying by The Times of India.
The statement was made to a nine-judge constitution bench headed by Chief Justice JS Khehar.
The arguments were initiated by senior advocate Kapil Sibal before the bench.
He said that with the advancement of the technology, the court is required to take a fresh consideration on the right to privacy and its implications in the modern day.
