Former ISRO boss UR Rao dies, PM Modi condoles demise
Bengaluru/New Delhi, Jul 24 (IBNS): Eminent space scientist and former Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) chairman Udupi Ramachandra Rao has died on Monday morning, aged 85, reports said.
He breathed his last at his Bengaluru residence.
Rao was responsible for the launch of India's first satellite Aryabhata.
Condoling the loss, Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted, "Saddened by demise of renowned scientist, Professor UR Rao. His remarkable contribution to India's space programme will never be forgotten.'
He is survived by his wife, son and daughter.
