Release of terminal benefits to Martyr Major David Manlun
The cheques were presented in a simple event organised at the martyr’s house in Happy Valley, Shillong. Several Military and civilian officials attended the event.
Major David Manlun (32), son of a veteran Subedar M Khamzalam (Retired) was commissioned into the 1st Battalion the Naga Regiment in Mar 2010.
He was posted in Nagaland with 164 Inf Bn TA (NAGA) since 2014. Major Manlun, laid down his life in the highest traditions of the Army, while leading an Army operation on 06 Jun 2017 against three militants of the outlawed ULFA(I) in Nagaland’s Mon district bordering Myanmar.
The unmarried martyr is survived by his parents and three siblings. His father is a retired Subedar from the Assam Regiment, his elder brother is presently serving with the Assam Regiment in Shillong, his only sister is married to an Army officer and his youngest brother is studying in college.
The General Officer stated that an additional amount of Rs 40 Lakh including the Central Govt ex-gratia grant shall be released shortly to the family.
The process for release of State government ex-gratia grant of Rs 7.5 Lakh has also been initiated.
