MoU signed between National Skill Development Corporation and Bengal National Chamber of Commerce and Industry

Kolkata, July 25 (IBNS): National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) and Bengal National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BNCCI) signed a memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen creation of employment in West Bengal.

Manish Kumar, Managing Director & CEO, NSDC and Sourajit Palchoudhuri, President, BNCCI signed the MoU on Monday at the Chamber premises.

As per the MoU, BNCCI will conduct training for the youths of the state in collaboration with NSDC. After successful completion of training, certificate will be awarded to the trainees by the NSDC.

Speaking on the occasion, Kumar said that skill development has increased the employability among the youth. Many skills are in huge demand world over and our youth may tap this opportunity, if groomed properly, he added.

He said that it has brought a revolution under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Hailing the signing of the MoU, Sourajit Palchoudhuri stated that it will help create more opportunities for employment in the state.

Describing that the main areas of cooperation will be to establish new centre or use its existing infrastructure at Entrepreneurship Development Institute (EDI) for various skill development schemes like Pradhan Mantari Kushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY), he said that BNCCI will propose to conduct Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) programs under the PMKVY for some areas like sweets and confectionaries, meat etc. and will facilitate opening of Eastern Centre or Zonal Centres of Excellence. BNCCI will also conduct skill training as a special project, focusing on advance Information Technology (IT) such as Cyber Security, Data Analytics and Digitalization etc. in all the districts of West Bengal and other states of Eastern India. The BNCCI also proposes to impart training in traditional job roles in Heritage Sector in West Bengal in consultation with State Skill Development Mission, he added.
