New Delhi, July 1 (IBNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday mourned the loss of lives caused due to cloudburst and heavy rains in parts of Uttarakhand.

"I am grieved by the loss of lives caused due to cloudburst & heavy rain in parts of Uttarakhand. Condolences to bereaved families," Modi said.

"My prayers are with those injured. I hope normalcy returns to the rain-affected areas at the earliest," he said.

At least 30 people were killed in Uttarakhands's Pithoragarh and Chamoli districts after heavy rainfall hit the state on Thursday and even caused landslides.

The incident has left 40 others injured, media reports said.
