Over 40? Nutritionist reveals 3 morning habits you should start today

| @indiablooms | Sep 05, 2026, at 06:15 pm

A nutritionist has highlighted three simple morning habits that people can incorporate into their daily routine to stay active and support overall well-being after turning 40.

Dr Amreen Sheikh, Chief Dietician at KIMS Hospitals, Thane, shared the suggestions in an Instagram video, highlighting lifestyle changes that can help people maintain healthy routines as they age.

Here are the three habits she recommended:

Start with soaked black raisins and fennel seeds

Dr Sheikh suggested soaking black raisins and fennel seeds overnight. In the morning, she recommended chewing them and discarding the soaking water.

Don't skip a protein-rich breakfast

She also advised people to ensure that their first meal of the day contains adequate protein. A protein-rich breakfast can help support muscle strength and provide nourishment as part of a balanced diet.

Breathe and move

Dr Sheikh recommended incorporating a few minutes of breathing exercises into the morning routine and aiming for 15–20 minutes of walking.

"Small habits, done consistently, can make a big difference," she said.

She also noted that after 40, the body may not feel the same as it did in one's 20s or 30s — and that this is completely normal. The focus, she suggested, should be on making sustainable lifestyle changes and staying consistent with them.
