Odisha logs 652 new Covid cases, one death in last 24 hrs

Bhubaneswar/UNI: Odisha reported 652 new Covid positive cases including 132 below 18 years of age in the past 24 hours taking the total tally in the state to 13,19,527.

Official sources said the total recovery rose to 13,04,527 after 704 covid patients undergoing treatment were cured of the virus in the past 24 hours.

One covid death was reported during the health audit process pushing the total fatalities in the state to 9149.

The active cases further declined to 5798 while the daily test positivity rate (TPR) stood at 3.63 per cent.

Health and Family Welfare department sources said out of 652 new cases,381 were recorded from the quarantine centres and 271 as local contact cases.
Sundargarh registered the highest number of 137 cases followed by Khordha(70), Sambalpur(58), Bolangir ( 47), Bargarh (46) and Mayrubhanj ( 43).

These six districts together contributed 61.5 per cent of the total new cases reported in the state in the past 24 hours.

Similarly, out of 5798 active cases, Sundargarh recorded a maximum of 1357 cases followed by Khordha(789), Sambalpur ( 432), Bargarh ( 412)and Mayurbhanj( 337).

These five districts alone accounted for 57.41 per cent of the total active cases in the state.

Sonepur registered the highest TPR of 22.8 per cent followed by Kalahandi ( 105 per cent) and Sambalpur (10.4 per cent) Sundargarh ( 10 per cent).
On the other hand, Bolangir, Kandhamal, Boudh and Mayurbhanj registered TPR above 5 per cent.
