Kolkata to get 'good' pre-monsoons rains, says Skymet

| | May 04, 2016, at 02:12 am
Kolkata, May 3 (IBNS) Private weather forecaster Skymet Weather on Tuesday said Kolkata is likely to experience first spell of pre-Monsoon showers during May.

"As reiterated by Skymet Weather, we can expect fairly widespread moderate to good rain and thundershowers along with thunderstorms over the city between May 3 and 5," read the private weather forecaster's website.

The intensity of rain and thundershowers are likely to peak on May 4, read the website.

The approaching weather activity can be attributed to the development of a cyclonic circulation over Bihar, West Bengal and adjoining Jharkhand. A trough is also running from this system up to North Coastal Andhra Pradesh. The system is likely to sustain its strength for next two days and so will the rains, it said.

Kolkata has been experiencing extreme heat for the past couple of days with the mercury even touching the 40 degrees Celsius mark.
