Kerala reports 2,423 fresh COVID cases, 15 deaths

Thiruvananthapuram/UNI: Kerala recorded 2,423 fresh COVID cases and 15 fatalities on Thursday showing no respite from rising number of infections in the state.

About 2,879 people have recovered from the disease today, a press release from the health department said this evening.

"Meanwhile, 15 recent deaths were confirmed due to COVID today. About 149 deaths were also added to the list based on appeals seeking its inclusion in the list taking the death toll in the State to 47,441," the release added.

About 58,459 samples were tested during the last 24 hours.

Currently, 1,10,680 people are under observation in the State -- 1,07,074 are at their homes or institutional quarantine centres and 3,606 in hospitals.

On Thursday, 172 people infected with the virus were admitted to hospitals in the State. Weekly Infection Population Ratio (WIPR) is above 10 at six wards where strict restriction is being imposed.
