Jammu sizzles at 44.1 degrees Celsius

Jammu, May 31 (UNI): The winter capital of the state on Friday witnessed hottest day of the season at maximum temperature touching 44.1 degrees Celsius.

From Tuesday to Wednesday, Jammu recorded maximum temperatures from 40 degrees to 43 degrees Celsius.

The Jammu and Kashmir government has ordered summer vacations for all government and private schools falling in summer zone from June 1 to July 16.

"The maximum temperature was recorded 44.1 degrees and the minimum was 26.3 degrees," said a Met official.

He added that the temperature will keep fluctuating between 40 degrees to 45 degrees Celsius in next few days.

Meanwhile, the famous Ranbir Canal in Jammu witnessed heavy rush of people beating the heat in scorching summer.

However, in Srinagar, the maximum temperature was 29.3 degrees and the minimum was 13.3 degrees.

Leh recorded maximum 23.7 degrees and minimum 8.6 degrees.

For Saturday the weatherman in Jammu predicted mainly clear sky with maximum and minimum temperatures will be around 44 degrees and 27 degrees respectively.

In Srinagar, it will be partly cloudy sky with maximum and minimum temperatures around 30 degrees and 13 degrees respectively.
