India reports 7,495 COVID-19 cases in 24 hours, PM Modi calls meeting on 'Omicron'

New Delhi/IBNS: India reported 7,495 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours amid the threat from the new variant 'Omicron'.

In the same period of time, 434 COVID-19 patients have died while 6,960 patients have recovered from the deadly disease.

The recovery rate now stands at 98.40%, the highest since Mar 2020.

Meanwhile,  the tally of 'Omicron' cases have surged past 200 already.

The highest number of cases from 236 have been reported in Maharashtra (65) and Delhi (64).

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will on Thursday hold a high-level meeting amid the rising cases of 'Omicron'.
