India reports 43,263 COVID-19 cases, 338 deaths in 24 hours
New Delhi/IBNS: In a spike in daily cases, India reported 43,263 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours while the toll went up by 338 in the same period of time, the Union Health Ministry said Thursday.
With 40,567 COVID-19 patients recovering in the last one day, the rate of recovery is now currently at 97.48%.
The active cases now account for 1.19% of the total cases.
The country has so far administered 71.65 crore anti-COVID-19 vaccine doses, in a fight against the pandemic.
Meanwhile, the World Health Organization (WHO) Wednesday urged the rich nations to suspend Covid-19 booster shot campaign in 2021 and make the doses available for economically weaker nations, according to media reports.
The UN health body noted that the rich nations have large supplies of COVID-19 shots, adding that several poor countries were struggling to vaccinate their vulnerable population due to paucity of supply of the critical vaccine, reported Hindustan Times.
WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus urged the rich nations to refrain from offering booster shots through the end of the year and make the doses available for poorer nations.
