Depression over Jharkhand, Gangetic West Bengal , more rains predicted

New Delhi, Aug 2 (IBNS) The Ministry of Earth Science on Sunday said depression, which was formed over Jharkhand and adjoining Gangetic West Bengal, has moved west-southwestwards and was centred over 'Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining Jharkhand about 70 km east-northeast of Ranchi'.

" Due to this Rainfall would occur at most places with heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places over the Gangetic West Bengal during next 24 hrs and isolated heavy rainfall during subsequent 24 hrs," read the statement.

Rainfall at most places with heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places would occur over Jharkhand, Odisha and Chhattisgarh during next 48 hrs.

The Ministry said rainfall at most places with isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall would occur over east Madhya Pradesh on Aug 3 and Aug 4.

"Rainfall at many places with heavy rainfall at isolated places would occur over sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Bihar and Sikkim during next 24 hrs," it said.

Strong winds with speed reaching 30-40 kmph gusting to 50 kmph would prevail around the Depression centre during next 24 hours, the Ministry said.
