Cyclone Asani: Flights cancelled at Vizag airport for second day

Visakhapatnam: All incoming and outgoing flights at Visakhapatnam Airport have been cancelled for the second consecutive day on Wednesday due to Cyclonic Storm 'Asani'.

Airport Director Srinivas said, all Indigo flights (22 Arrivals plus 22 Departures ) were cancelled.

AirAsia has now cancelled earlier proposed two flights --one from Bangalore and one from Delhi and the decision about evening flights is awaited, he said.

Air India cancelled all its flights while SpiceJet flights from Kolkata-Vizag-Kolkata stands cancelled and it will take a call on the flight from Hyderabad post 1400 hours this afternoon, he added.

India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday said that the severe Cyclonic Storm 'Asani' had weakened into a 'cyclonic storm' and is likely to weaken gradually into a depression by Thursday morning.
