Bikaner/IBNS: Rajasthan's Bikaner is all set to become the first city in the country to launch door-to-door coronavirus vaccination, said media reports.

The drive will be launched from next Monday to inoculate people in the age group of 45 and above.

The district administration has launched a helpline number with WhatsApp number where people can register for vaccination along with their names and addresses.

Two ambulances and three mobile teams will conduct the door-to-door vaccination drive.

At least 10 people should register for vaccination at home. This has been done to avoid wastage of vaccine shots as one vial of coronavirus vaccine contains 10 doses.

A medical team will remain with the family after the shots are administered in order to observe their condition even after the mobile van leaves the spot.

Bikaner has a population of over 7 lakh as per the census of 2011 and 60-65 per cent of its population has been vaccinated till now, according to Namit Mehta collector of Bikaner, said an NDTV report.

It has16 urban Primary Health Centres where doctors will be informed about who in their area is vaccinated so that they can also monitor the recipients for any adverse effects.

Bikaner district reported 28 new covid cases in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of cases to 40,118. Till now, 527 people have succumbed to coronavirus infection and there are 453 active cases at the moment.

In the past 24 hours Rajasthan has recorded 368 new cases and 16 deaths, while the state has 8400 active cases, currently.
