Doctors and medical staff at the Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (TRIHMS) in Arunachal Pradesh have conducted a groundbreaking surgery to implant a cutting-edge 3 Tesla MRI compatible dual chamber automatic implantable cardioverter defibrillator (AICD).

The procedure, aimed at primary prevention of cardiac arrest, was performed on a 37-year-old woman suffering from cardiac sarcoidosis and severe left ventricular systolic dysfunction.

Led by renowned cardiologist Dr. RD Megeji, the skilled team, including Dr. Tony Ete, cath lab technician Nilutpal Goswami, and OT nursing officer Joram Moni, expressed their gratitude to the patient, her family, the institute's head of anesthesiology, the in-charge of the operation theatre, TRIHMS director, and the state government for their unwavering support and trust.

With over 70 successful permanent pacemaker installations already under their belt, this latest achievement demonstrates the team's dedication to advancing medical care in the region.
