Union Minister urges Karnataka forest dept to take good care of injured wild elephant Sidda
On Thursday, NDTV reported that Sidda, struggling with an injured leg for over 50 days at a reserve forest near Bengaluru, is not responding to the treatment by local forest officials.
The wild elephant, a tusker, was found nursing his wound by immersing himself in the Manchanabele Dam near Bengaluru, eating crops on the side of the dam, a local villager told the media.
NDTV reported that according to a local villager the elephant was shot at.
Last week, the forest department of Karnataka tried treating the injured animal - cleaning his pus filled wound and treating him with antibiotics - with the help of other trained elephants from Mysore. But Sidda's progress has not been good. He is being given drips, but is too weak to stand, reported NDTV.
