India reports spike in daily COVID-19 cases, 3998 people die in last 24 hours

New Delhi: India once again witnessed a surge in COVID-19 as 42,015 new cases were recorded in the past 24 hours, as per the Ministry of Health released data on Wednesday.

In the last 24 hours, 3998 people died due to the virus.

The total death toll due to the disease now stands at 418480.

During the last 24 hours, 3,03,90,687 total recoveries across the country were recorded so far.

Recovery Rate currently stands at 97.36%.

36,977 patients recovered during the last 24 hours.

India's Active Caseload currently stands at 4,07,170.

Active cases constitute 1.30% of total cases.

Weekly Positivity Rate remains below 5% and currently stands at 2.09%.

Daily positivity rate is now at 2.27%, less than 3% for 30 consecutive days.

India witnessed a severe second wave of the pandemic this year.

People suffered to get hospital beds, oxygen supply amid a surge in cases.

Crematoriums and graveyards were also overwhelmed due to a spike in deaths due to COVID-19.
