Delhi Delhi receives major supply of Covishied, Covaxin doses
Delhi/IBNS: Amid shortage of vaccines that reportedly forced the Delhi government to stop inoculation drive for 18-44 age group, major supplies of both Covishield and Covaxin reached the national capital Wednesday.
A total of 1,27,420 doses of Covishield, manufactured by Serum Institute of India, have been sent to Delhi, which will be used to vaccinate the 18 to 44 years age group, said an NDTV report.
The state also has 20,000 more doses of Covaxin to inoculate the same set of people, it added.
The state had received 40,000 doses of Covaxin on June 6, enabling the state to revive the vaccination drive but only for those who were due to receive their second shot.
With the supply of Covishield replenished, people who are yet to receive their first shot can be catered to free of cost
The AAP government in Delhi had been repeatedly accusing the centre of sitting over the vaccine distribution system and questioning how private hospitals were receiving the doses.
Meanwhile, the coronavirus cases in Delhi fell to 316 in the last 24 hours and 41 related deaths during the same period.
Nearly 25000 people have succumbed to Covid-19 till now in the national capital.
