The positivity rate has risen to 10.2 percent in Pakistan, with the country recording over 4,400 new infections in the last 24 hours, taking the total tally to 804,939 on Tuesday, reported The News.

The active cases count is 87,794, while the number of recoveries nationwide has reached 699,816 so far. The National Command Operation Centre (NCOC)- the main body responsible for managing the Covid-19 crisis in the country-  said it conducted 43,981 tests on Tuesday for coronavirus out of which 4,487 returned positive.

The country reported 142 new fatalities, taking the total coronavirus death toll in Pakistan to 17,329. Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa remain the worst affected provinces in the country.

The Sindh provincial government has already ordered the closure of all educational institutions in the country. Even offices of the provincial government are working with just 20 percent of staff.

The provincial Covid-19 task force, led by Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, had held a meeting this week, and ordered several new restrictions, including banning intercity transport from today.
