Covid-19: 156 CAPF personnel test positive in 24 hrs, total surges to 577

New Delhi/UNI: As many as 156 security personnel of the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) have tested positive for Coronavirus in the last 24 hours pushing the total number of infections to 577, officials said here on Thursday.

On April 13, a total of 421 personnel were found infected.

As per the latest report, out of 577, the Border Security Force (BSF) accounts for 462 cases in the last 24 hours with a total active 1,820 cases, while the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) has recorded 48 more cases in this period with 431 active cases.

With 260 total active cases, the Central Reserve Police Force has recorded 30 new cases in the last 24 hours while Indo- Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) has reported 12 cases in the same period with 118 active cases.

The Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) has reported 23 fresh cases with a total of 75 active cases whereas National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has recorded one case with 12 active cases, the National Security Guards (NSG) has not detected any fresh case in last 24 hours with 11 active case.

A total of 56,494 CAPF personnel have been infected so far and 53,557 troopers have recovered. The CAPF has lost 210 jawans in the last one year.
