Punjab imposes night curfew to combat rising COVID-19 cases

New Delhi: Punjab is the new state which has imposed night curfew to contain the rising COVID-19 cases in the region.

In the state, night curfew will be observed from 9 pm to 5 am.

During the period, non essential movement will not be allowed.

No political gatherings will be allowed till Apr 30.

CM Amarinder Singh tweeted: "Due to increasing spread of #Covid19, we will be implementing stricter restrictions across Punjab to control the pandemic. Strongly urge everyone to observe full precautions & all those eligible to get their vaccination done. Vaccination is necessary to build immunity."

India recorded a massive spike of 1,15,736 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, as per Ministry of Health released data on Tuesday.

During the same period, 630 people also died due to the virus.

The total death toll due to the virus now stands at 1,66,177.

There are 843473 active cases in the country at present.

India is witnessing a surge in COVID-19 cases for the past few days.

Several state governments have imposed restrictions to reduce the spread of the virus.
