New Delhi/IBNS: At a time France and Germany are getting into the anti-Covid-19 lockdown mode again, the Novel Coronavirus tally in India on Thursday went past the 80-lakh mark with the reporting of 49,881 new infections in the last 24 hours.

As per the latest update by India's Health Ministry, the country has reported 517 deaths apparently due to the infection in the last 24 hours.

1,20,527 people, who were infected with the virus, have died in the country since late January when the first Coronavirus case was reported in the vast country of 1.3 billion people.

There are 6,03,687 people who are still infected with the contagion in the country.

Though the country is showing a considerable decline in Covid-19 curve over the last few days, the national capital Delhi is adding more worries to India's poor health infrastructure with a surge in infections.

Delhi on Wednesday reported over 5,673 Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, the highest so far in the city since the pandemic has hit.

With Diwali round the corner, the unprecedented spike in cases has raised concerns.
