India registers 62,212 new COVID-19 cases, 837 deaths in past 24 hours

New Delhi: India registered 62,212 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, as per government data released on Saturday.

The country also recorded 837 deaths during the same period.

There are 795087active cases in the country at present.

So far, 6524595 people have been discharged.

The total death toll due to the highly infectious disease now stands at 112998.

India's festive season starts from Saturday with the Hindu community observing Navaratri and Durga Puja.

There is a fear that several Indian states might witness jump in COVID-19 cases post Durga Puja.
