New Delhi/IBNS: In more worry for the Asian country of 1.3 billion people, India on Saturday reported the biggest daily-spike in Novel Coronavirus cases by adding over 86,000 fresh infections in the last 24 hours.

With 86,432 cases, India's Coronavirus tally has touched 40,23,179.

As 1,089 Covid patients have succumbed to the virus in 24 hours between Friday and Saturday mornings, the toll has touched 69,561.

So far in India, 31,07,223 patients have been discharged while there are 8,46,395 people still infected with the virus.

This is the third consecutive day where India reported over 80,000 daily cases, the most by any country at the present moment.

Meanwhile, a World Health Organisation (WHO) official on Friday said the organization does not expect to witness widespread vaccinations against Covid-19 until the middle of next year.

"It is unlikely that we will see mass vaccinations against COVID19 before the middle of the next year," Margaret Harris, spokeswoman, WHO, was quoted as saying by the media.
