COVID-19: West Bengal sees highest one-day jump of 2739 cases, 49 deaths

Kolkata/IBNS: With highest single-day spike of 2739 infections and 49 deaths, West Bengal's Covid-19 tally has mounted to 75,516, including 21,108 active cases, 1678 fatalities and 52,730 discharges, reports said on Sunday.

According to a bulletin issued by West Bengal Health and Family Welfare (WBHFW) department, in the last 24 hours, 2213 Covid-19 patients were discharged from different health facilities across the state, taking the recovery rate to 69.83 per cent from 69.41 per cent.

Officials said that Bengal had tested 9,34,537 samples till date with a record number of 21072 tests conducted in 57 testing facilities in the state in the past 24 hours.

West Bengal health department said that as on Aug 2 evening, the state had 1264 broad-based containment zones, 37 of which were located in Kolkata.

Currently, 3178 persons were kept in government quarantine centres and 33479 people are under home surveillance in the state while 6908 persons are in 106 government safe homes.
