Assam crosses 4900 mark in COVID-19 positive cases, death toll rises to 9

Guwahati/IBNS: The surge in the numbers of COVID-19 positive cases continue in Assam as the state has crossed 4900 mark.

Assam has registered 210 new positive cases for COVID-19 in last 24 hours and with the new cases the state tally has now increased to 4904.

According to the Assam government data, the state has registered 2069 cases in last 10 days and it is 42.19 percent of the total cases registered so far.

Till June 8, the state had registered 2835 COVID-19 positive cases and it jumped to 3900 on June 13.

On the other hand, 2848 COVID-19 patients have been discharged from hospitals so far after they have been tested negative twice for the deadly virus.

Assam Health minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma said that, 194 COVID-19 patients were discharged from hospitals in last 24 hours.

He tweeted: “Glad to share that Keycap digit oneKeycap digit nineKeycap digit four patients have been discharged today from various civil, district & model hospitals in Assam, after being tested negative. Total Discharged Patients – 2848.”

Nine people have lost their lives due to COVID-19 in the state so far.
