Three more tested positive for coronavirus in Gujarat

Gandhinagar/UNI: With three more people testing positive for novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in Gujarat, the total number of such cases in the state on Friday reached five.

Three of them are women and all Gujarat natives aged below 35 years and have recent foreign travel history.

State Health Secretary Jayanti Ravi said that among the three cases confirmed on Friday were two in Ahmedabad and one in Vadodara. The two tested positive in Ahmedabad were young women, who returned recently from Finland and the US. The Vadodara man had travel history of Spain.

Notably, on Friday, first two patient tested positive for the virus in the state. Among them are 32-year-old man from Rajkot who had returned after a pilgrimage from Mecca in Saudi Arabia.

In Surat, a 21-year-old was tested positive. She had returned from the United Kingdom via Mumbai airport.

All of them are undergoing treatment.

Some of the people with whom they had close contacts have been identified and kept under observation in quarantine.

Notably, of the total 150 tests in Gujarat so far, 123 have come negative, 5 positive while the results of remaining 22 are still awaited.

More than 200 patients have been tested positive for the virus across the nation, with five deaths reported in the last two weeks.

First corona linked death was reported in Kalburgi, Karnataka, where a 76-year-old man died. He was tested positive for the virus.
