Moscow/Sputnik/UNI: Singapore detected two new cases of the new strain of coronavirus in the country among Chinese nationals who recently arrived from the virus-affected Wuhan, the Health Ministry said on Friday.

"The Ministry of Health (MOH) has on 24 January 2020 confirmed two more imported cases of novel coronavirus infection in Singapore," the health ministry said.

In addition to three confirmed cases, 28 people are currently being tested for the virus in Singapore, according to the health ministry.

On Thursday, Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong said that the country was ready to fight the disease, adding that new coronavirus was less dangerous than the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) epidemic that killed more than 700 people worldwide in 2003.

According to the latest data, the virus killed 26 people and infected more than 880 in China. Confirmed cases of the new coronavirus have also been recorded in the United States, South Korea, Japan, Vietnam, and Thailand.
