Heart ailment diagnosis now more affordable: Doctor

India Blooms News Service | | 10 Oct 2014, 12:39 pm
Kolkata, Oct 10 (IBNS) Kolkata's doctors say heart diagnosis has become much more facile due to the increase in the financial affordability of people.

Dr. Lalit Kapoor, who is associated with Kolkata's B M Birla Heart Research Centre, said: "Previously we could hardly hear about heart diseases. The ratio was 1:10 but now it is like spread everywhere. This is because nowadays, heart diagnosis has become much more facile because of the increase in the financial availability; affordability has improved.”

Kapoor said: “What we are doing is we are doing the same surgery done in western countries but with the one-tenth of the cost and probably giving a better result. We cannot buy petrol in the one-tenth of the cost, compared to the western countries but in India we are paying more for everything apart from cardiac surgery. So, it is affordable and within the reach of public.”
