India records 2.71 lakh COVID cases in last 24 hrs, 314 deaths

New Delhi/IBNS: India's COVID-19 graph continued its upward curve with 2.71 lakh cases in  the past 24-hours on Sunday, the Union Health Ministry's daily bulletin stated on Sunday.

As many as 314 people have died of COVID during this period, according to the Health Ministry.

India's active caseload currently stands at 15,50,377, which is 4.18 percent.

The recovery rate is presently at 94.51 percent with 1,38,331 recoveries in the last 24 hours.

Meanwhile, 7,743 Omicron cases have been detected so far across 28 states. There has been an increase of 28.17 percent since Saturday.

The daily positivity rate saw a marginal improvement from 16.66 percent to 16.28 per cent while the weekly positivity rate was recorded at 13.69 percent.

Maharashtra, which is one of the worst-hit states by the Covid pandemic, recorded 42,462 new coronavirus infections and 23 deaths.

So far, 156.76 crore vaccine doses have been administered under the Nationwide Vaccination Drive.
