20,000 kgs of Maggi instant noodles seized in Lucknow

Lucknow, Aug 11 (IBNS) The Uttar Pradesh Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has seized 20,000 kgs of the two minute noodles from a Nestle warehouse in Lucknow.

Early this year,  food safety inspectors in Uttar Pradesh had found excess lead in some Maggi noodle samples and declared it not fit for consumption.

In June this year, Nestle had to take Maggi off the shelves, after few states decided to ban the instant snack. Food safety regulator FSSAI had also banned Maggi instant noodles on the ground of the brand being "unsafe and hazardous" for human consumption.

Nestle India's new chief Suresh Narayanan has recently said that bringing the instant noodles brand back to the market is his top priority as he sought to strike a conciliatory note with authorities.
