New Delhi/IBNS: India, a South Asian nation, reported 31,923 COVID-19 cases while the toll went up by 282 in the last 24 hours, the Union Health Ministry said Thursday.

In the same span of time, 31,990 COVID-19 patients have recovered.

The recovery rate now stands at 97.77%, the highest since Mar 2020.

The active cases now account for less than 1 per cent of the total cases, the lowest since Mar 2020.

In a positive light, 83.39 crore anti-COVID-19 vaccine doses have so far been administered in the country of 1.3 billion people.

India-UK vaccine war

India's warning has prompted the United Kingdom to approve Serum Institute of India (SII)'s anti-COVID-19 vaccine, Covishield, but questions have been raised over the CoWIN certificate, in what could further escalate the bilateral tension.

The UK Wednesday revised its travel advisory and included Covishield in the list of vaccines accepted in the country.

However, travellers from India will have to get quarantined upon reaching the UK despite getting fully vaccinated with Covishield.
