Kathmandu, Apr 24 (IBNS): As Nepal is gearing up to observe fourth anniversary of the devastating earthquake that hit the nation in 2015, two back-to-back tremors were felt in the Kathmandu Valley and surrounding areas on Wednesday, officials said.

The National Seismological Centre said it recorded two tremors of local magnitude 5.2 and 4.3 at 6:29 am and 6:40 am respectively, in Dhading district on Wednesday, reported The Himalayan Times.

National Emergency Operation Centre, Nepal tweeted: "Earthquake of local magnitude 5.2 in Naubise Dhanding @06:29.-NEMC."

In the following tweet, it said: "Again! Earthquake of local magnitude 4.3 in Naubise Dhanding@06:40. -NEMc."

As per India Meteorological Department website, the quakes hit at a depth of 10 kms.

No damage to life or property have been reported so far.

Twitter has been buzzing with comments and reactions of people who experienced the quakes since early morning.

One Kashish Das Shrestha tweeted: "#Quake in #Nepal....just 2 days before April 25, when in 2015 a devastating #earthquake hit the country. Hope everyone safe as can be. Pls remain alert."

Another Rajan posted: "Philippines' Manila , India's Arunanchal pradesh and then Kathmandu, Nepal's capital. Looks like the Indian plate woke up #earthquake #NepalQuake."

One HeM remarked: " Earthquake today, a sweet reminder on 4th anniversary that we need more City Parks and Green space. The unmanaged development in Nepal is more dangerous than earthquake itself. #nepal #earthquake #needGreenSpace #kathmandu."
